Champagne Occasion

DAILY MIRROR, TUESDAY, MAY 25th, 1971

PRODUCER Reg Watson had a problem with today’s 1500th edition of CROSSROADS.

He wanted to make the programme topical for everyone, even though London viewers see this serial five months later than elsewhere. And he wanted to provide a theme which could make it possible to re-introduce many characters from the programme’s past.

Producer Watson has Godfrey Winn on the show as a guest artist – and past members of the ‘Crossroads’ cast turn up at the motel run by Meg Richardson (Noele Gordon).

‘Crossroads’ (most areas at varied times) has screened more episodes than any other British TV serial – its four weekly episodes are seen by 8,000,000 viewers. So tonight’s champagne celebration party really is something of an event.
